You do not need every detail before you call. If you know where the fence will go and what you want the yard to do, that is enough to start.
Talk about your fenceA simple checklist
These details are helpful for a first call. They do not replace a survey, HOA review, code review, or permit guidance.
Property address. Start with the location where you are considering the fence.
Approximate fence line. Note the areas you want fenced and any openings you want to discuss.
Yard goal. Privacy, a clear boundary, an open view, or a contained area all give the conversation a starting point.
Material idea. If you are considering privacy fencing, chain-link, wrought iron, or wood, mention it. If not, that is okay too.
If you know about a slope, rocky area, hard ground, or an existing fence, mention it when you call.
If you have an HOA or a question about a property line, check with the appropriate authority.
Write down the parts of the yard that have different needs so you can describe them easily.
